Using Your Local media
If you’re holding a Bigger Breakfast this year then make sure you let your local media know in advance and on the day. We’ve prepared a simple press release which can be adapted for you. You are free to write your own, but please make sure that you mention that this is part of The Bigger Breakfast which has been organised by the Baptist Men’s Movement.
You need to contact:
- Your local newspapers
- Your local radio stations
- Any local online news services that aren’t owned by your local newspaper
- Your local TV stations
- Your local churches together groups to let them know and invite them to come along.
- The Baptist Times or your denominational newspaper
Invite their journalists along to your breakfast – and offer to pay for their meal if they wish to stay.
When contacting your local media, make sure you include a daytime contact telephone number so that they can get in touch with you for more information.
After the breakfast, you should get in touch with them again to let them know how many people took part in your breakfast and nationally. We will release a simple press release that you can use over the weekend of October 10. To issue accurate numbers, we will need you to share the details of your Bigger Breakfast with us as soon as possible after your breakfast has finished.
We will send organisers more information on this in the run-up to the day. Last year, we offered you an email form and the ability to report numbers by text message.
