Venue
Hold your breakfast in a local pub or cafe
We’re encouraging you to hold your breakfast in a non-church venue.
It’s great because it means that you can easily invite non-Christian friends along, your local pub or cafe will do all the cooking so you don’t have to and there’s no washing up afterwards.
You will need to book with your local pub in advance – let them know now that you wish to hold your Bigger Breakfast there on Saturday, September 25. They can reserve seating for you. Your local manager will know how they would like to handle your order – we suggest that you drop in a few days before the breakfast with an order form so that they know how many extra breakfasts they need to order and can have them ready for you on the day itself.
They might request pre-payment, we’d encourage this. If they do, it could make life easier for you on the day as you can concentrate on enjoying your Bigger Breakfast rather than collecting money.
If you use a Wetherspoon pub, its menu will change in early September. When it does, get hold of the latest breakfast menu and find out what your local branch will be serving (they vary from pub to pub so we can’t offer a centralised price list).
Remember that the pub offers side orders, teas, coffees and hot chocolates.
Take orders and payment from people and make sure that your Wetherspoon knows this in advance.
On the day itself, encourage people to arrive promptly. Your local pub or café should be able to cope with some last minute breakfast eaters, but they will have to order at the bar and wait for their meal to come.
If you’re having a guest speaker, you might want to get people to rearrange their chairs afterwards – see what the pub manager would like you to do, to ensure that no one is blocking access to the toilets or fire exits.
Remember that the pub is open to ordinary customers too. They might want to come and sit with you or leave you be.
Don’t forget to take your camera with you and take some pictures, and do a head count so we know how many people took part in your breakfast.
We hope that you have an enjoyable meal and we look forward to hearing all about it.

IMPORTANT!
We’re encouraging you to hold a Bigger Breakfast wherever you can. If you are uncomfortable with using a pub as a venue, please don’t feel you can’t take part. Of course you can! Please host a Bigger Breakfast wherever you feel comfortable, be it your church hall, a local café or round someone’s kitchen table.
Remember it’s easier to invite non-Christians along to a non-church venue, which is why we’re encouraging you to meet outside of your church buildings.
